Is there any way to crop someone or something and then put that into a different video clip? I.E. if I want a sailboat in a shot, but its not actually in that shot, is there a way to crop it out of a different clip?

If you’re using Vegas Pro you can use the mask tool and draw a mask around the sailboat and composite it into your shot…or you could photoshop it…

Added to what Chris said: (example) Sailboat on top timeline….
the shot you want it in on the timeline below it.
Then use the mask tool to draw an outline around the sailboat, and
immediately you will see it composited on the bottom layer,
from there now you do some more tweaking and feathering and
then you can even keyframe the sailboat movements.

Some of the features pertaining to what was recommended for
you to do earlier, will not work in the studio version.

ok, i got one vid on a track over the other. I used the mask function, but the software help said that next i needed to make a “mask generator” I did that, but i dont see anywhere were I can draw a line around the sailboat. Instead i can change different settings which change the transparency of different elements of the event.

To draw a line around the sailboat, Or start masking,
you need to open the “event pan/crop” window (center
box at the end of each video clip
    ) and at the bottom
tick “mask” and select the “anchor creation tool” to start
clicking around the sailboat to create your mask.
