this question may be stupid, im sori, im new to adobe premiere.

my video seems to be cropped whenever i enter it into the project window.

    i’m using AVI.

does the “safe area” have something to do with this? i’ve already set it to 0%, and i already unclicked the safe margins icon.

Is the view set to “fit”? I don’t have CS3 in front of me at the moment, so I may have the terminology wrong. But somewhere on the program monitor there is a drop down menu where you can set the size of the video to 100%, 200% …. and also fit to window. I think that might be the problem.

No, the safe margins have nothing to do with it. If your clip is smaller or larger than your frame size you will see a black border or only part of the clip.

You can use “scale to frame size” to force the clip to the project (CS3)/sequence (CS4) size, but you may prefer to correct the initial settings or even the clip.

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

    Cheers
