If I just want to zoom in a clip, is there any difference in the way Premiere CC 7 processes a transform or a crop effect? My question refers to end quality of the clip and CPU demand.

I use it a lot, and sometimes I get ‘stuttering’ as clip zooms in with transform, but it zooms in smooth with crop for the same effect duration. Frame blend isn’t really helpful for me. I am not sure if one or another effect demands more or less processing, anyway.

All my original footage are HD 1080p, 29.97, 24Mbps MTS files from Canon HG-20.

I’m not certain I’m completely following your description, but it would be somewhat expected that moving a cropped clip vs an uncropped clip might be easier as cropping is eliminating whatever pixels you’ve cropped from the processing.
