I’m recording some standard definition video for a set of instructional videos, and I mistakenly recorded the footage in Letterbox mode rather than Squeeze mode for the first couple sessions. This might sound like a crazy question, but is there a way, in Final Cut or elsewhere, to crop out the black bars upon import? Like set the range of usable video on the tape and have it only import that, so I don’t have to crop it out later when edit? I assume not but I thought I’d ask.

Equipment: Panasonic HVX-200P, Final Cut 7

    Thanks,
    Dan

No, there is not. Sorry. YOu have to place the footage into the sequence, fix the DISTORT so that it is 0…and scale up the shot 25-30%.
