  • Crop an Edge?

I am building 36 window comp using the “card wipe” plugin. It’s from a training lession on Lynda.com. Anyway, the problem is, I used the guides option in AE to set up the 6 row by 6 row grid but, its lines don’t match where the card wipe lines start to seperate.

So I’m nudging each window and grabbing the edges to make them fit correctly but how do you grab one edge to expand or crop an edge without affecing the other side. I know in the scale section you can unlink the vert & horiz but that only controls the manipulation of all sides. Is there a way to drag just one side?

    Thanks

you could use a mask… just make a mask on the layer, you can select mask points for any of the sides to ‘nudge’ them or just grab sides and drag them.

you can also use the transform effect and the cc composite effect to get a make shift crop effect… use scale parameter of the transform effect to create your ‘crop’, the cc composite will place the original over the now resized layer to crop out the edges. you can refine the crop by adjusting the anchor point in the transform effect…
