I have created my first ever intro for one of our youth programs at church. I am failry new to after effects (about 6 months) and have taken all of the tutorials on this sight as well as podcasts and some of the master cow series of DVD’s.

After all of that I would love some critiques on the finished product. I have placed it on my site

    https://www.icthusproductions.com/video/

and would love for any constuctive feedback. The folks at church loved it but if there are tips on how to do some things better or how to achieve a better look overall.

Again, thanks for all the tut’s and info on this sight.

PS: I also tried the Sheer codec featured in this months magazine article and it reduced render time as well as file size (Thanks for the great tip)

    Regards,

well I’m new to AE also, and I think it looks good. The only thing that you might want to retouch would be the map zooming. It starts out good with the red square as the area to zoom, then it zooms in one level (gets a little to pixelated), maybe add another red square and maybe a crosshairs to zoom into next level then crosshairs at building to indicate target.

Overall I think it’s great though. I can tell it wasn’t just thrown together. Spot on job with the keying too.

thought it was good too, but the ending with she shine and text does not fit the video change it up a bit to see if you can have it sort of match the theme of the video, but hey, great video.

A very good effort, quite impressive, I did like the James Bond intro seg. And oddly enough I am trying to put a tutorail together to show this effect.

    Great work keep it up.

I do agree the shine is an overkill. Loose it and try wiggle text. or a title scroll?

    nice one

From the looks of this I’m sure that your church will want to keep you busy.

Here’s a tip for the outer space zoom or goggle earth if that’s what it is. Get in tight on the building, then record the process pulling out up into space. Then reverse the footage for the actual piece — you should have far less pixelation with this method.

Wow thanks for the complement. The tip sounds good also. I will try doing a reverse zoom and check the quality. That is something that was giving me fits.

OK I am looking at ways to bring in the text and was thinking of bringing it in with the white dots that usually start the bond intros and when they turn over it has the text. Ill give it a shot and see how it comes out.

    Thanks for the feedback.
