Hi Craig,
1. If you shop around PCI-X won’t cost that much more. I got a refurb REV A Dual 1.8 with 8 RAM slots and PCI-X for $1,800. I could have bought a REV B Dual 1.8 for $1,700. Not a big additional expense.
1. I think 4 RAM slots are more likely to bite you. If you use 512 MB Chips on a four slot machine you will be maxed at 2 gigs. You can go higher with 1 gig chips but if you compare the prices of 1 gig chips vs 512MB chips using the bigger chips for the same capacity will probably cost as much or more than the difference in price between a model with PCI-X a model without.

May 30, 2005 at 8:25 pmHi,
Text and a Table with the Model Numbers is here:
https://www.barefeats.com/quick.htmlThis is the text:
May 4th, 2005 — Some of you have asked which G5 Power Mac models are most desirable. Whether you buy a new, refurbished or used G5 Power Mac, be sure to get model with 8 memory slots and 100/133MHz PCI-X slots. The table below gives the model number, etc., of these desirable G5s.All other models have only 4 memory slots and 33MHz PCI slots. If you can’t find the 2003 and 2004 models at Small Dog or Power Max, go to Froogle.com and search on the model number.
Best Wishes,
Mitch
