Eventually, these 4:3 short (3 to 4 minute) clips will be web-based, maybe at medium broadband. Am using a new programme (“JustTheCaps” for PC; or CapScribe for MAC) to permit me to add open captioning below the image frame in a web app (requires MOV files mpeg-4). Want to take advantage of the new H.264 codec. However, I wanted to add the supers in the video edit.

My second monitor is a CRT and the lettering does look “better” when I move the image over there, but it still has a “fuzzy” incomplete look. I’m a bit surprised as I don’t remember this problem in earlier versions of Premiere. (I’m using PP2) My first monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 713V 17IN LCD 1280X1024 0.264MM Silver Analog – maybe that’s the problem. Still….

So, originally, I did output to MS DV AVI and used the new QuickTime Pro 7.2 to export same to mpeg4 format, but the supers still really look poor, quite dreadful and, to my sense of things, unprofessional, even when they’re blown down with the images.

Do you think uncompressed Microsoft AVI might be better way to go that route? I’m not sure which QuickTime codec PP2 would use, but although I have exported the work several times, I can’t find the MOV file output location, though I’ve searched any number of times for it, and successfully exported to MS DV AVI to the appropriate project location. I wonder if there is a conflict with QuickTime Pro.
