    Hello to all,

I am pretty familiar with FCP, but am just beginning with Motion. I just created some basic credits (scrolling text) for this project that I am working on. I thought that it would be easiest to create them in FCP, then send the file to Motion and make it interesting in Motion. I thought that would be easy, but, when Motion opened up, NOTHING. There was only a black screen. I scrolled the play head and nothing was there, no text.

Also, when went back to FCP, the clip that I had sent to Motion, was a nested Motion file, that was now also black, NOTHING.

There has got to be something that I am missing. Can Motion bring in Scrolling Text from FCP, or any text at all?

I would love to find out any suggestions that any of you gus and gals might have.

    Thanks in advance,

    Beau

It seems the text tool does not translate to motion. It’s best to start this one in motion, render out an alpha, then bring that movie into FCP.

I’ve had a lot of success starting in LiveType then bringing those clips into Motion. But be aware that Motion interprets the LT alpha incorrectly as straight rather than premultiplied black.
