    Hi,

Taking my first tentative steps in After Effects..please excuse the simple question..

I’ve managed to make this pretty cool blurred animated text effect thing in After Effects…but when I bring it into Premiere (where I don’t feel so nervous) it has a grey background instead of the black I want.

Now I’ve managed to get around this by creating a solid below the text layer in black..but is there a simpler way of filling the background of a comp with black?

I probably did this in Total Training 1.01 somewhere…but my head is swimming after all the lessons!
Thanks for helping this humble calf out;)

Ok…I’ve now realised that what I really want to do is somehow save the text I have animated with transparency in the background. (ALpha Channel?)

When I bring the text in with black background into Premiere I get a black background over the video as well…I’ve then tried using a Luma Key..which works kind of…but for some reason the levels on my white text get lost…

I’m kinda a bit confused here…is this the best way to do this?

In essence what is the simplest or best way of bringing a transparent animated text graphic from After Effects to Premiere..and then overlaying this text over video?

(I have Premiere Pro 1 and After Effects 6)

Try outputting the title from AE by choosing the Animation codec at Best quality and include both the RGB and Alpha channels (millions + colors). The Alpha channel is what will protect the text and make the background go transparent when superimposing it over the BG video in Premiere.

    Thanks Jim,

Can you just clarify where I find the Animation Codec? Should I see this in the list of export types..eg. Adobe Motion Exchange..or do you mean to use AVI and a different compressor type?

    Kind regards,

    Matt

:o)[Mav777] “or do you mean to use AVI and a different compressor type?”

The Animation codec is a Quicktime codec. Export a QT file, and you’ll find the settings there.

And for the record: codec = compressor.
