Creating the 3D Ribbon Effect Problems
Posted by Martyn Morris on July 19, 2007 at 3:28 pmHi, I have followed the tutorial using Cinema 4D, I have tried to take it further by creating an arrow in Illustrator, importing the AI document and placing it in an extrude nurb, and then trying to attach as shown in the tutorial using the plane but it doesn’t seem to work.
I have tied to group the nurb the place the but this still does not work , any help would be very much appreciated.Martyn

July 19, 2007 at 3:49 pmHey Steve, wouldn’t it be awesome to do a Cinema4D tutorial using After Effects. ;-). Heck, wher would I stop? Maya?
No offence to the original poster – just laughing at the situation more than the person.
Cheers

July 19, 2007 at 4:17 pmHoudini. Massive. RealFlow. AE does it all.
Although this one just sounds like a “wrong forum” mistake, I do get annoyed at the people who say that AE can do anything. This leads to a desire to create complex 3D scenes and VFX by the poor young folks who put all their eggs in the AE basket with high expectations.

BUGGER! That sounds a lot like me – except the youthful part. 🙂

While I don’t get annoyed, I do find it amazing how many posts have questions about using AE as if it was a typical NLE. Many of the problems in this area I have read are waaaay over thought in “animated terms”. …When, a simple old school approach of filming and editing with AE providing the special effects would make the whole project easier and simplier.
