I recently finished all the steps in this tutorial for creating QuickTime Media Skins:

    https://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/mediaskins.html

For some reason when I attempt to open the final xml file, it says “QuickTime cannot open the file: “skin_xml.mov”
it is not a file that QuickTime understands (-2048)”

I checked the xml code and rechecked it again and can’t seem to open it. Any light on this darkness would be great!

    I’m using a G5 dual 2ghz, QuickTime Pro 7.0.3, OSX 10.3.9, Photoshop CS

    Thanks,
    Colin Williams

I never had much luck with skinning through QuickTime, or with QTVR. Check out LiveStage https://www.totallyhip.com/livestage.asp It’s a bit pricey, but it will probably let you do things you never knew you wanted too. They have a free 30-day demo you can play with

Thanks. I’ll have to check it out. It looks as though you can do some really interesting things with it. I was under the impresson that QT with some xml code was capapble of doing almost the same thing.

    Hi Colin.
You may need to save the file as plain text.

In TextEdit go to Format>Make Plain Text then save it again.

Change the extention to .mov and you should be good to go.

    Damo.
