    Hi
    Got a strange one today….
A friend of mine is working on an old 1.5 version CS on an equally old Sony Vaio.
Source material and Premiere project are PAL DV.
From Premiere they have exported both PAL and NTSC AVI ‘s – these both play perfectly in their windows media player.
But once they open the AVIs in encore the NTSC plays fine on the timeline preview but the PAL jams up on still photographs in the project.
Project consists of interview footage, film clips and still images – transitions between everything else is fine, but when going from a still image back to interview or film clip the still image either just stays on over the sound of the next clip or ghosts over it.

Any ideas or suggestions or full-on, definitive solving of the problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Conrad,
there are several issues as you need to do a format-conversion for PAL if you edited in NTSC.

meaning: different framerate and aspec-ratios/resolution! media player is no reference according to interlaced material.

I strongly advice to have a look at your video on a reference-monitor to keep track of the field-dominace.

finally you should encode your assets prior authoring using adobe media encoder.

    cheers
