There was a great thread at 3d attack a while back but most of the links with file examples are dead now…but i did manage to find this file from rui mac on my hd that I uploaded.

There is a tutorial for making basic waves with cloth remaining at 3d attack…but it is pretty outdated now.

I use this plugIn (same as I pointed to in your other post)…https://www.add-the-sea.de/eng/
for making waves or coastlines…you can easly make the water interact with objects and it is extremely fast to render.

    hope this helps.

It really depends how much interaction you need (wakes, foam, ripples, etc.). If you just want an ocean surface you can use a large plane with bump or diplacement. The Material>Surface>Water shader works well for this, or you can layer it with different animated noises.

There are other options depending on the specifics of what you require — need more info.
