Creating Multiple Lines of Text on One Text Layer
Hi Folks,
Experienced editor here, new to the Adobe Suite. I am creating a Text Layer in After Effects that I plan to manipulate and do some motion tracking to.
I can’t figure out how to put multiple lines of text on the same layer.

ThisI feel like I’m missing something really obvious. So obvious, that all the tutorials I’ve watched don’t go over it.
Do I have to create a new layer for each line of text? If so, what’s the best way to manipulate all layers at once, once I get into resizing and motion tracking.

Ok, I’m not THAT new! When I press enter, the cursor goes to the beginning of the original line of text and types over the line I already have. It does not go down a row.

You’ll need to check your text parameters in the character panel. You could simply reset your character panel to default, if you want. You’ve got a second line, but the leading is off.

Leading! That was it. I was overthinking it.

Excellent. I have manipulated it in a 3D space (making it look like it’s written on a wall that’s slanted towards the camera). The camera moves so it’s time to do motion tracking. Do I need Mocha? Or, is there a good way to do it in AE?

It depends on what kind of motion you’ve got going on.
It sounds like Mocha would be ideal for your setup, but you could use AE’s built-in Camera Tracker too [link].
