    Could anyone explain or point me to a tutorial on creating masked wipes inside PPro commonly used in VFX breakdowns like this?

    Put the different plates on top of each other on the timeline and use a linear wipe transition.

    Actually, you’d need to just use a wipe transition to add the border. Why linear wipe doesn’t have a border option is beyond me.

    Maybe because Linear wipe is an effect and has feather.

    There are custom presets you can try (free?) out there.

    You can make your own and reuse.
