Creating DVD through iDVD One-Step
Here’s a question that neither the FCE or iDVD forum can answer so I’ve come to the pros. My output in FCE is Print to Video for use in a TV program. However, often I need a DVD also but have been unhappy with quality. It occurred to me that iDVD One-Step might be the answer since it’s direct…no compression. So, tried running, through my camera, my Print to Video final product through iDVD One-Step to create a DVD. The image quality was outstanding…was I exited. No audio, however. I realize that One-step was not meant for this…it’s meant for raw unedited video from camera. If I can get audio using this trick, I would have a great DVD. Any suggestions?

I sometimes use iDVD to make a DVD by exporting my timeline onto the desktop as a Quicktime, then choosing “OneStep DVD from Movie” from the file menu in iDVD (then just follow the instructions). This can take a little while as the iDVD programme has to transcode the movie into MPEG2 (which is what DVDs are encoded with).
