  • Creating DVD help needed…best format/codec to use for 27min’s of footage

    Hello All,

I’m having problems exporting footage from FCP 5.1.2 to enable me to create a DVD from 27 mins of footage.
I’ve installed all of the latest updates, for both Quicktime, FCP, etc, etc, but the encoding process is painfully slow!!
Everything else is working fine, but when i try to encode my footage using Compressor everthing slooooows right down…..the system tells me its going to take 23 hours to create a 27min video file ~(DV PAL 48mhz anamorphic).
Lifes toooo short to wait 23 hours for a 27min video!!!
Could someone please let me know which codec would be best to use to, 1: get the best quality, 2: have the shortest encoding time, and 3: have a file size small enough to fit on a 4.7gb DVD.
I need to get this project out in the morning, so any help would be appreciated.

    Many thanks in advance.

    All the best

    Dave

    Dave,

Export a self contained QT first and then encode using Compressor’s best quality 90-min preset. Even if it starts out saying it will take 20 something hours it won’t take more than two or three hours.
