FCP 3 was capable to output tc from timeline to firewire, but after that it did not. You seem to have a PowerPC G5, so you could find a free software from web called SimpleVideoOut X. It will output tc from QT-file to firewire, IF your deck is capable to read and record it! With Sony DHR-1000 I am almost certain it will not work, it is a home video equipment and it will not understand external timecode.

To my knowledge FCP is still capable of outputting TC via Firewire. FCP 6 did this for DVCPro HD. Have not tested it in FCP 7 as I don’t need it, but it was still there in 6.

I say I don´t know about DVCPro HD, I have never worked with one, but DVCam I know for sure that this is how things are. NO TC-OUTPUT for many years!
What goes with FCP 7, I don´t know that either, but I would be veryveryvery supriced if Apple had adopted that thing back to FCP.
