I have a sphere, that i want to have display growing cracks that eventually break off and cut away part of it leaving a logo. I own complete tinderbox set (2.0 1-4) and the trapcode series. For idea of what im talking about look at h++p://home.comcast.net/~renzor/sphere.jpg.
As you can see i have outlined where i want the outter cracks to appear at teh end of the growht, there are no cracks in teh middle yet as i want to have them sorta random. WAfterwhich i will have the middle (which can be a different layer at that point, The cracks will glow and then suddently explode. The explosion leaves the left and right side of the sphere but not the inside. Not sure if this can be done 100 % in ae, but would be great to achieve it. Thanks for any help!

Use the Lightning and Advanced Lightning effects. Especially Advanced Lightning supports Alpha evasion, so by drawing some masks or creating a usable Alpha channel in another way, you can direct it where it needs to go. As an alternative you might want to get Path Distort from Digital Anarchy’s Anarchy Toolbox which allows you to build and animate the crackles in a straight fashion (e.g. with Cell, Roughen Edges and otehr effects) and then bend them into place in your other comp using masks as guides.
