  • Creating closed captions in Premiere?

Is anyone out there creating closed captions through Premiere? I’d like to put in some Adobe Premiere edit stations, but need to know if there is a good work flow which can generate closed captioning for television promos, without going back through an external CC encoder.

For our needs, we don’t need to synchronize the captioning with the audio. We just need to have the script of what is being said play out over the length of the promos being created, spitting out captioning at a constant rate.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

Closed captioning requires the external CC encoder. Sorry. You can run a crawl, but not a closed caption.

By the way, I watch WESH-TV on Brighthouse Networks in Clermont FL.

Is there any way to retain the Line 21 caption information in the Premiere Workflow?

    Here’s my situation:

I’ve received a master NTSC DVCam tape that has the Line 21 captions. I’ve captured that footage to an AVI in Premiere Pro CS3 (Windows). When I put that AVI on a timeline and play out via firewire through my DSR45 deck to an NTSC monitor, the closed captions still play.

Problem is when I add a lower third, dissolve, or color correction — anything that needs to be rendered — the Line 21 info vanishes.

Is there a setting I’m missing to keep my Line 21 info? Any way to keep that CC info in the file until output?

    Any guidance is appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Dex
