Creating classic analog video feedback effect?
Long ago I came up with a method to imitate the same video feedback effect as in the Earth Wind and Fire video for “September”. I forgot my home-brewed recipe, and poking around FCPX and Motion have not been able to replicate it. I think I remember whatever I did, I did to a keyed image, over black, to get that nice repeating effect off to one side. I think it was an unorthodox application of maybe a replicator or a tiling effect, but after hours of poking around, I’m stumped at how younger me did it.
I could use some help now to do it again, preferably with the built-in effects in FCPX or Motion, not spending money for a dedicated plug-in. Help me, Obi-Wan COW-nobi!

Very old post, I know, but you’d have to shop around for a plugin that does this.

Brett FX makes this effect but I think it is also now in the standard FCP effects catalog as well. Thanks for replying.
