Creating border around digital photo to create “real” photo look.
Couldn’t find any threads about this, although it feels like a real basic question (maybe more of a PS question really).
I want to take a digital photo, put it in AE and create a white border around it to make it look like a real photo. Of course this can be made with real photos and such, but I would like to see how it looks in AE. It’s just an idea I have for a short intro sequence that I can play with to learn the ins and outs of this program. I’m also planing to scale and rotate the pictures if that makes any difference.
So is AE good for this or should I look more towards PS?
As you can figure I’m pretty new with AE, having mostly done editing in PPro. Though I do try to educate myself with video podcasts here (great job) and some books I have bought.

Just a white border? Drag your pic to the comp button in the project window to make a comp the same size as your pic. In the comp, scale down your pic a little. Make the Comp BG color white.
OR
If you want to crop your pic instead, do the same, except scaling the pic, use the square mask tool to draw a mask to reveal all of your picture except for the outer part (which will be left white because your comp bg is set white).
There must be a hundred ways to do this, but that pops to mind.
If you want to manipulate the bordered pics, then drage the comps into a master comp and treat them like normal layers.
