creating animated freeze moving

I seem to remember doing something like this way back when… Duplicating the track, I believe I used the Velocity Envelope dropping it down to 0% at the point where it needed to be and then doing a masking effect in Pan/Crop on top of the other synchronized track.

If it’s not all that clear, I could make a quick tutorial if need be.
