  • Creating an interlaced (50i) comp?

Posted by Fabio De la rocha on December 9, 2012 at 4:25 pm

    Hi,

I’m probably missing something really obvious, but help would be much appreciated.

I need to create an SD interlaced PAL comp, however there is no option to set my comp up as interlaced in the Composition Settings dialogue. I can set my frame rate to 50, but I assume this would be 50p not 50i.

This is not something I’ve ever had to worry about, since it’s the first time I’ve been asked to deliver an interlaced project.

As I say, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Vishesh,

Many thanks for your kind reply. I followed the link, but it doesn’t quite deal with my issue. I am working with comps that consist of stills and assets crested within AE (text, solids etc.) and no VT. What I need to know is how to set up my comp (using the composition settings dialogue) so that I can export interlaced. For instance, do I set my comp up as a 25fps project, then select interlaced on export? Alternatively should I set up my comp as a 50fps comp and then select 50i on export?

    Thanks again.

Yes. Work in a 25 fps comp, then turn Field Render on in your render queue item’s render settings.

Make sure that you have turned Separate Fields on in the interpretation settings of all your interlaced footage.
