I’m building a financial news open and need to assemble a motion graphic pulse across the screen and looking for the most effective means of generating that waveform. I have After Effects 2015 (and Cinema 4d) but think that Particular may be the quickest route to go. Any suggestions?

I’d do it in Particular. That way you can get some variation into it.

If variation is not needed, you could do it with a shape layer with trim paths by drawing the exact path, then blur it, and then fade it with a gradient track matte if necessary.

I’d go the shape layer route. Draw a line with the pen tool, add trim paths, and you’re done! Ok, maybe not quite; you can spice it up of course, but that’s the basic idea.
