December 3, 2012 at 8:40 pmYou can check out Vimeo’s recommendations: https://vimeo.com/help/compression
DVDs are standard definition, so you’ll want to transcode that to ProRes before you edit. Then export a master ProRes file, Compress to H264 in Compressor with Vimeo’s specifications.

December 3, 2012 at 9:07 pmThanks Kylee. May actually try fcpX with this one. Have to try it some time
and it seems to pull in material in different forms more readily….
something like DVD > HANDBRAKE > MPEG > FCPX in prores
then I’ll check out what form for Vimeo
Sound too complicated? -

December 4, 2012 at 1:07 pmI’d use MPEG Streamclip to rip the DVD, Handbrake is kinda wonk and doesn’t make the files you’ll need.

December 4, 2012 at 4:26 pmI’ve become intrigued with fcpX
seems it will take material in any form
quick from MPEG or MP4 from Handbrake.
Now all I have to do is spend a day or two with fcpX tutorials.
