Hi, I’m trying to create an animated ground plan of a building, as if the plan is being drawn on to paper.
I’ve been Auto tracing the plan image and then adding a stroke effect to the new Auto traced layer and keyframing the End points.
This creates the desired look but I need control over the start and end points of the drawing.
The drawing is complex and the Auto trace generates too many masks so trying to shuffle the order of the masks to draw sequentially from the desired start point is a nightmare.
Is there a better way of procedurally generating line work from a drawing?
I’ve got about 5 of these plan animations to produce, from historic Architectural drawings and I’m starting to feel like I’ve bitten of more than I can chew….

I think I’ve found a solution; I’m using the paint brush tool, setting the paint layer to Luma matte and manually adjusting the keyframes to control the speed the image is drawn out.
