Creating an alpha channel on 3D text
Hello, hope I can explain this properly: I have some text which is revealed using a light in AE7. They are 3D so the light picks them out (though not special 3D objects from another program)
I wanted to create an alpha mask to put this type over another video. Unfortunately, the problem I run into is that though the text is black before the light hits it, it still shows up in the alpha channel. So you see black letters before the light hits them. I thought the alpha would knock out everything black and only retain the color, but it must have something to do with it being 3D (can you tell I’m an amateur yet).
Any suggestions? I tried Xmult and though that did get rid of the black letters just sitting there, the matte was not acceptable and made it look terrible. Any other ideas?
Thanks for the help
