I am wondering if there is a way to creat a Vignette around your image in FCP. I am also a photograher and I almost always place them around my images (to see examples please visit my site at: http://www.jeffnewton.com). I am wanting to create that same look with my video work but am not sure. I am sorry if this question has been answereed before but I just did a search for it and I could’t find anything.

    Thank you for your help.

    Jeff.

A really fast way to create a vignette would be to create an edge feather on your clip. If that’s what you want, then double click your clip to load it into the viewer. Click the viewer motion tab and click the crop disclosure triangle. Adjust the edge feather to taste.

Aussie FCP guy Markus Herrick has a free “Vignette” plugin available here:

Or you can just create your Vingette as a Photoshop-file and place that on your video

There’s also a very comprehensive vignette plugin as part of Film Effects http://www.nattress.com which has tonnes of features.

The Soft Edges filter works pretty well too. Very simple to use.
