Not in the outer space planet sense.

I need to create a shot that would simulate someone looking up at a glaring hot sun.

So far, I’ve been unable to come up with anything very realistic looking. I’ve tried playing with still images and lens flares.

Anyone ever try this? Any tips? I couldn’t find any tutorials on this.

I’d lean heavy on the glow effect and add lens flare over the top and just let it blow out. I feel the key with the lens flare filter is to add it to a black solid and composite it with add.

    Thank you

I made a post about this on my blog that could possibly be along the lines of what you’re looking for… Read it here:

the key to using lens flares is having an unmult filter.

I created a couple of “suns” in this short animation I created. Granted, they’re not the most realistic looking things.. but they got the job done in this case.

I just created a white blog (white solid layer with a round mask, feathered) and trapcode shine. I animated shine to create the animated sunbeams. I then ADDed it to the scene, I think…
