  • Creating a split screen

I’m working on a project and trying to create a split screen. Specifically, I have two clips featuring tiltups of actors that start out at 50% in size, and want to split the screen vertically and zoom them into the fullscreen size.

I know that it’s probably a very simple effect using masks, but It’s been so long since I’ve done anything like this and would appreciate any sagelike wisdom that anyone has to offer.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hey Christian,

You’re right It’s fairly simple to do.

I’m basing this on you using an HD 1920 x 1080 comp.

Layer > New > Solid make it half of 1920 = 960 in width.

Find the Align panel and Align left

Bring in your photo and place it underneath the solid in the composition.

Under TrkMatte click to the right of your photo where it says none and choose Alpha Matte.

Hopefully your photo will now be using the above layer as a Matte.

You then just need to duplicate the solid, align it to the right.. bring your new photo in an repeat the steps.

    hope this helps

    Alex
