I am working with iPhone footage, and FCP 5.0. I want to create a sequence that suits the media. so that there is no need to render just to play back on the timeline.

    Thanks
    Patrick

The only sequences that work with FCP’s realtime engine are the ones that appear In the Easy Setup list.
The iPhone records in H.264, which is not a realtime editing codec in FCP. It is advisable to transcode all footage to ProRes 422 or ProRes LT and edit in a ProRes timeline.

Oh. Sorry..you are on FCP 5. you don’t have ProRes. Either upgrade or transcode to DVCPRO HD. Apple Intermediate Codec may also work for you.
