  • Creating a Pre-Comp from a Solid to It’s Size More Easily?

    Hi CC,

I have this project where I’m having to make precomps based on the size of masked solids in the composition.

Masked Solids are measured by coordinate, not pixel length and width. So every time I select an object on the composition and make a precomp of it it makes that precomp the size of the composition. I don’t want that. I want to precompose a solid to it’s size, not the composition.

I realize that every time I do this I have to draw guides, line up area of interest and make sure everything is pixel to pixel before cropping to region of interest. It’s not that bad but if you have to do it over and over it’s tedious and without a careful eye can be off.

Is there some shortcut method to tell AE “Please precompose solid to it’s size, not to full size of the composition”?

I’d love to just be able to do that.

Thanks for any advice. Really would help.

    Max

When you Precomp any object, Select Leave all Attributes in “Name of your Comp”.

This will make a Precompose the object to its size and not that of the composition.

I thought that too but tried it and it didn’t work all the time.

    Not sure the case.

    Anyway, maybe a dumb question.

Thanks for responding though! 😀 I’m really appreciating all the help you guys have given me. Very thankful.
