Creating a path for “Stroke”
Posted by Mikke1556 on July 29, 2007 at 4:19 amI need to create a path around the outline of a text (as in the entire perimeter of the letter). I figured i can use “Find Edges” to get a black line around the outline but i need to turn that black line into a Path for “Stroke” any ideas or other ways to do this?

Select the text layer, then Layer>Create Outlines gives you a mask(s) (1 for C, 2 for D, 3 for B) for each letter.
Hey, Darby, thanks for the Auto-Trace idea, I got a nice jagged look when Auto-Tracing Courier at Tolerance 5 and Threshold 5, kinda-of like creating my own Font.

It can be used to very creative ends =) I thought I had read that the text was an imported image, but now that I look at the original post I see that he doesn’t say.
If the text was created in AE then you should use Create Outlines.

Or if it was created it Photoshop use Layers>Convert to Editable Text first and then create outlines.
