  • Creating A Motion Gradiant Map for Compound Blur

Posted by Joshua Ferg on October 13, 2006 at 6:46 pm

I’m trying to get a moving, irregular blur to occur over a text layer, with text areas becomming more or less blurred as the animation evolves over a few seconds.

Tried creating a gradiant map from Fractal Noise pre-com layer via Compound Blur with no luck.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    josh

No luck is a bit general. Could you be more specific?

    Here’s what I did:

    1. applied Fractal Noise to a new solid
    2. animated its evolution
    3. precomposed the layer, moving all attributes into the new precomp
    4. applied compound blur to the footage layer, using the FN precomp as the map.

    Hi Steve,

    Sorry for non-specifics.

You’re summary is exactly how I preformed the set up assuming that Fractal layer would dissapear – however, what I end up with is the Text layer AND the Fractal layer animating as set but with no effect what-so-ever to the Text layer.

What I’d liek to see is just the text layer bluring in and out according to the FN layer.

    Hope this makes more sense.

    Best,
    Josh
