Creating a LUT for HDLink
Posted by Robin on July 20, 2011 at 3:54 amHi,
Is there any way I can export the LUT that I made in Resolve to be used in HDLink?
Please advise.

July 20, 2011 at 4:43 amYes, the .cube LUTs created by Resolve can be used in the HD Link. This prior thread discusses this:

July 20, 2011 at 8:07 amHey Robin,
What are you trying to build the LUT for ?
If you are building a look to put into the HDLink for on set use for example for Alexa LogC to Rec709 and also apply a basic look to help the director see what it will look like in the final grade Resolve is perfect for this.
Hopefully I can help you out!
Thanks,
D

It would be fantastic if Blackmagic has a white paper for creating LUTs for HDLink Pro.
I would be interested in your explanation of that workflow.Thank you,

July 20, 2011 at 3:49 pmI use a lut in my Decklink box created by DaVinci to balance my client monitor (a 50″ Panny Plasma) a bit closer to my Flanders Scientific 2461 LCD. Its not exact but it sure is pretty darn close and only really scrupulous DP’s can tell the difference (producers and directors think they look the same). So yes it works and it really isn’t hard at all, use Dwaine’s link to the other thread for directions.

July 23, 2011 at 2:13 amHI everyone,
Thanks for the input. Managed to get the .cube file into the HDLink no problems.
Dan, thanks for the AlexaLogC to Rec709 thingy. That will come in handy.
The DP I’m working with is looking for an on-set grading solution and we’ve been going back and forth between using Iridas SpeedGrade OnSet and Resolve. We wanna just have a general LUT for our look on set so that we can adjust lighting accordingly.
Question: since the HDLink has 3D LUT sliders, does it take in 3D LUTs? If so, what file type would it be?
