    Hi everyone,

I need to create a title sequence where a jumble of words slide together (In an elegant way) to become the title. At the same time, a sort of glow/flash grows behind the lettering peaking at the point the title comes together and then the glow shrinks away leaving the title…hope this makes sense…so anyways, if anyone can point me in the right direction for creating growing flashes of light that would be great. Any advice on the text effect as well would be appreciated as I am only using tracking at the moment.

    Thanks

Well, you need something to actually get brighter behind the type. It could be a graphic bed or a solid with the ramp effect applied … something.

To make the background (BG) glow/brighten, you could animate levels, curves, lens flare, Shine or the glow effect. This could be applied to the BG, or to the whole comp through an adjustment layer.

If you want to start from black, you could apply the ramp effect to the BG and adjust its levels to bring it up from black.

Remember, the best effects are often a combination of effects.

Hope that gets you started. You could also search the COW for “camera flash”.
