I am working on a project that will have a series of pictures. The effect I am trying to get is you see one picture, then the effect of a camera lens opening, a flash, then closing revealing the next photo. I have been able to create it as a transition using flash and iris transitions but with a lot of work and I would have to re-create the process each time between photos. Since I have a lot of transitions to do this way, is there a way to create the effect one time and use it for all the transitions. I came close by using a solid white background, using iris in, flash and iris out, but I don’t want any black between photos. I want them to see the first photo, then the effect and right in to the next photo. I also tried using text media generator with no background and taking text out so I could use a transition but the background shows up black instead of showing thru to the photo below. Hope this makes sense. Thanks
By the way…I use vegas 7. Thanks

Once you get the effect the way you want, save it as a veg file (e.g. iris.veg).
Open your project, import iris.veg and drop it on the timeline anywhere you need it.

I’m not certain if that will work since in order to be able to get the iris and flash effects I bring an empty event into the start of the new photo and drop iris into that. Is there a way to create the effect stand-alone so all I need do is drop it onto a timeline above the two pictures?
    Currently:
    Three tracks
Trk three first pic with second pic overlayed enough to put a flash in the transitional point.
Track two is the sound efx
Track one is a copy of the second picture with an empty event layed over the first part of it to be able to lay an iris in the transitional part.
I am going to try to send along a veg file for you to look at. I didn’t get a link back when I tried to upload it so I’m not sure if it came or not. Thanks.

    Forget what I said earlier.
I did a search on other Vegas forums and came up with this.
Thanks to Peter Wright and Kelly Chien for the tips and graphic.

Drop two clips on the timeline, no overlap.
Drag the top corners to create Fade Out for 1 and Fade in for 2 (try 5 frames each for a start and adjust up or down as desired).
    Drop Iris transition onto both.
Set the first to Circle – Iris In
Set the second to Circle – Iris Out.
Place the following image on a new track underneath the clips, spanning the duration of the two fades.

Adjust time to suit sound effect.
