Forums Adobe Illustrator creating a brush not allowed

    created a object using a clipping mask now i drag it to brush palate but it warns me that “selected artwork contains an element the cannot be used in an art brush” how do i fix this?

    Well, why don’t you expand the mask and give it a shot. Are you using gradients? (I Believe that gradients don’t work in brushes, at least the old version of Illustrator I have)

    How do you expand a mask?

    Select just your object with the mask. Go to Pathfinder and locate the “Crop” button and click. That should do the trick.
