I’m making a chritmas present. I found a technique screwing around last year whereby I used a cone with no caps and rotated different instances to create the bow. You can see what I did at https://www.holidaywishes.com

I’m wondering if there is a faster way or better way? Perhaps using some expression or such to create random copies ‘radiating’ from a source?

Maybe I’m just being lazy…rotating individual cones just seems like the kind of automated thing that might exist?

I should have added that I’m messing with an Atom Array but I can’t find a way to rotate the instances that appear. I suppose I could build half then use reflect but I feel I’m on the verge of the right thing but just don’t know!

That’s not that bad. If you are looking for more realism, model one loop using a Sweep NURBS object and then clone it a bunch of times in a radial array. Combining multiple radial arrays would certainly yield some interesting results. From where I sit, the ideal solution would of course be to use the MoGraph module for all the cloning, but that may not be an option for you.

Thanks! I ended up using a radial array for the bottom row and then using a few symmetry’s set on different axis’ and it didn’t take too long.

    Thanks for the idea.
