  • Creating a border on a still in avid… How?

    Hi kids,

Just started jumping back on to Avid while being on FCP for 6 months. Trying to make a simple white border on some stills in my avid cut and can’t remember the function/effect to do it. Any help would be great! Just trying to get back into the swing of things, thanks!

What effect are you using your stills with? Which plug-in? BCC, sapphire, Avid Pan and Zoom?

    Hi Shane,

Well that the big rub. I have neither boris nor Sapphire, which has a pretty simple step in getting the function. i guess all I have to work with is Avid pan and zoom…

Unlike FCP, that will bring in stills at full resolution and allow manipulation right then and there..Avid doesn’t do that. I’d imports the stills to match the project frame size and rate…making doing moves on them not all that great. Thus why you need to use Pan & Zoom or Stage Tools or Sapphire or Boris plugins to gain access to the stills at full resolution.

    OK,

Now I got me some Boris stuff. Trying to remember what effect it was. Just trying to crop the image and put in a white border on the edges to make it look more like a photo…

    Thanks!

not sure if i’m missing something here, but pic in pic has border settings if all you are looking for is a white frame.

setup you shot in frame flex, and add a pic in pic effect.

Or just drop a frame produced in text tool on top
