  Create transition/effect to split video, have it separate showing video and then reconnect

  I realize there are probably some plug ins that do this but I’ve working toward a larger idea and this is the first step toward figuring that out and I want to create something myself I can convert for use in FCPX projects.

  I want to have a transition/effect that will split a video (vertically, horizontally or diagonally) and then separate/push apart the video, not just mask over it, showing a video/text/effect underneath almost like it’s forcing its way out.

  I’ve tried a number of things but nothing is working quite right for and I know there’s got to be an easier way.

  Hope that makes sense. Any ideas?
