I now have a 4K UHD TV. I don’t have 4K video camera. I do have hundreds of stills that are well above the 3840 × 2160 resolution.

Would they be suitable for making a slideshow? What codec would you recommend? The TV can play back HEVC/H.265.

    Thanks in advance

I have been watching your post for many days, hoping for a reply to your question . I too have many hi res pics that I would love to try in a 4k project. But I don’t have a 4k tv yet.
I keep checking and hoping for a response to this post.

I don’t have any 4K displays so I can’t try it but I can’t see any reason this would not work in Vegas. Set project properties to 4K, render to 4K template. That should do it … right?

Yes. 4k slideshows work just the same as SD or HD .

I would set up your project for UHD resolution, do all your slideshow moves, and then export using either the Intel HEVC codec (UHD preset) or some flavor of h.264 (will have to make your own preset). I have done both, but prefer HEVC. It is slow but reliable.

FYI, unless you stand within about 6 feet of your TV you will be hard pressed to see a difference between UHD renders and high bitrate HD. Try a couple short test renders to see.
