I have HDV footage of a video that I need to edit but my G4 MDD is kind of slow with the 1080i60 footage. Im trying to recompress the clips with media manager to DV or offline RT so I can edit the video and then want to online my sequence back to the HDV for the final master. I cant figure out how to recompress and then online my edit back to HDV. Here is what I’m doing, I select the clips and then go to media manager and set to recompress for offlineRT HD (jpeg) 29.97. I uncheck everything and set for clip names. Now to get the online I go to media manager on the sequence of my edited video with the offlineRT and set to create offline and set sequence to HDV 1080i60. After that I open the new project and reconnect the media with my HDV footage but it needs to render. I checked the sequence preset and its the right HDV 1080i60 preset. If I drag a clip into the sequence it doesn’t need to render. I have limited knowledge and experience with the media manager, I’m just not sure what the proper steps for are to do this, so if anyone can help with the correct process that would be great.

    Thanks

Try performing a match frame then a replace edit to each cut?

Might also try the whole thing again just for kicks. i.e. recreate the sequence with the media manager and reconnect again?

It doesn’t sound like you’ve done anything wrong with your media manager settings. You simply create offline a copy of your offline sequence with mm, then don’t delete unused media, set it to be HDV 1080i60.. which is what you did, right?

Thanks for the reply Jerry. I tried the whole thing again and it seems the process with media manager is correct but my recompress settings were wrong. I have HDV 1080i60 and I’m using the OfflineRT HD (PhotoJJPEG)29.97 preset in the Media Manager. What happens is the footage gets squished to like a 2.35 aspect ratio in the OflineRT HD so when I online back to the HDV its squished which is why it needs to render. I checked to make sure the HDV sequence settings were correct by dragging in one of the original HDV clips and it needed no render. So I figured out the problem is when recompressing and using the OfflineRT HD preset in mm, the footage gets squished, the same thing happened with the DV-NTSC 16:9 preset, the ascpect didnt match. Does anyone know the right settings to recompress HDV 1080i60 to an offlinRT so the picture doesn’t get squished and I can online back to HDV1080i60.

    Thanks
