I am trying to encode a .mp4 that has a frame size of 1920×1080. I get an error about invalid frame size. Is it possible to make a mp4 with 1920×1080?

    Thanks

Yes. There are already presets built into Media Encoder for 1080p h.264 mp4 files. Use one of those to get you started (I’m assuming you’re running at least CS6 or Creative Cloud).

You must be aware of the “Level” you’re set at. I believe 1080 encoding result ion needs to be set on at least Level: 4.0 or higher. Otherwise, you’ll get an error.

As Ryan mentioned, it is probably the H.264 Level. Set this parameter first.

Sorry for the late reply. I am still having issus with this. I cannot get the framsize increased to what I need. I am using Media Encoder 6.

I am attaching a screenshot of my settings to see if you can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

I see what’s happening now. Go up to “Format” and change that to h.264. That will allow you to make a mp4 using the h.264 codec (which plays on virtually every thing today).

Make a straight mp4 does have limits because it’s using h.263 as the codec, which is limited in resolution and will kick back an error message. So change over to h.264, and then set your parameters. Like I said before, you’ll need to be at at least Level 4.0 to do HD when making a h.264 mp4 file.

    Hope this helps!
