  • Create Holes in Invigorator Shapes

I’m trying to create a gear using an Invigorator Gear Shape and I’d like to cut out the center. Easy enough with hand-drawn shapes, but can’t manage it with objects drawn with the shape tool. Do I have to go to Illustrator? Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rob,

You can cut out a hole in the Gear shape without having to go to Illustrator. To do this, create the Gear, and select the Gear in the Object Drawing window. Then, click the “Convert to Paths” checkbox. Next, create the shape that you want to cut out from the Gear. Use the Cut command. Then, select the Path Selection Tool (located within the Selection Tool) and click the Gear shape. Use the Paste command, and it will place the pasted shape with the Gear. Move the pasted shape to the desired position for the hole.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

    Best,
    Edward

Thanks, Edward… now if I could just get Invigorator to stop crashing. Additional post with specifics to follow.
