  • Create Custom Transition Presets?

Posted by Aza Allen on February 13, 2010 at 1:10 pm

I was curious, is it possible, using either AE or Premiere to create custom transition (and other FX) presets that I could just plop in anytime, or am I stuck building what I want from scratch.

WAIT, let me clarify the question… I know I could build a transition in AE and put it on my timeline, and then adjust the clips, BUT is it possible to create ready-to-use transitions, like Premiere has, that will conform the video to the needs of the transition (kind of like, say the 3d cube transition where it puts each clip on a ‘face’ of the cube) or some such thing?

I hope my question id clear, I fear it may not be, let me know.

I hope you find an answer, because I’ve been wanting to know this as well. Something I loved from my Final Cut days was being able to drag/copy a transition already in the timeline to another section.

eg. Making a 5-frame audio crossfade for a timline with multiple cuts to “cover up” becomes a pain when I have to drag it out of the Effects Browser and manipulate each individual transition.

Hey guys, after LOTS of research the best option for sophisticated looking custom transitions that you can put anywhere. is available with Boris Red 5.0. The PC version is available now, and the Mac might be soon. Its the only real software that I as a long time pro editor would consider because of he many controls available and the good interface.

    Hello,
maybe we have a tool that may help you. With the transition designer you can make more complex transitions within adobe premiere pro, so that you won’t need to go into after effects in many cases:
