create custom audio levels for individual audio clips
Hello. I am very familiar with adding a Volume Envelope to an audio track.
What I am wondering is if there is a way to create a volume envelope beyond a simple “audio level” control for audio clips, with its own “Points” as Vegas calls them, or keyframes. It would be nice to get the right levels in a clip and to be able to move this clip around freely not worrying about the location of it in the track.
If you can do this, please let me know the rough steps or what I should look up to get this to work.

No, there is no audio event level envelopes. While this might be a good addition, if you are apply an envelope to smooth out volume changes, is there a better tool to handle this like using compression instead? I’ve seen people meticulously ride the volume when all they needed to do was engage the track compressor.

lol… well it’s really common to see so don’t feel bad. 😉
Since I have an audio background before I got into video, I just naturally reach for compressors, limiters, and eq’s to solve audio problems. If the only tool you know is volume, then that’s the knob you tend to use.
