Does anyone know how I might be able to create a bin in the Effects tab of a project? I’d like to build a folder of my own, instead of simply using the Favorites folder that is already there. I don’t seem to be able to simply hit the command+B shortcut or control+mouse click. Is this even possible in the Effects tab…?”
No and you don’t want to create anything in there anyway, even if you could. The moment you trash your preferences, everything in that tab resets to factory default.
What you really want to do is create a new Final Cut Pro project and just call it Effects or whatever else you want to call it. Then drag your favorite / custom effects / settings into this project and you can create as many bins as you want. You can also create as many projects as you want because keep in mind, you can have multiple projects open at the same time.
For instance, I have a “Good Eats Moves and Filters” project that I store all my Color Correction, Text Moves, Transitions, etc… in. Same with another series and then I also have my own general “Walter’s Effects” project with global stuff I want for all my projects. I just open them up when I need them.
